It is a distressing fact that Japan may now
be traversing into a wrong direction

The Future of Japan may be in Jeopardy.

There is a new law on the verge of being passed, which could rob
Japanese citizens of their basic human rights.

Alarmingly, as much as 95% of the Japanese population may be
unaware of the situation.

This lack of public awareness may be attributed largely to the failure of
Japan`s mass media to sufficiently cover the issue.
The government seems to have silenced the media, which is seen as
a sort of complacent unofficial bureaucracy in Japan, on this issue.

If the government succeeds in surreptitiously passing such a law,
it will undermine the fundamental human liberties enjoyed by
Japanese citizens.
Despite vigorous opposition from some congressmen, (Takeo Hiranuma)
this law may nonetheless end up being pushed through.
Because this vital information has been kept out of the public realm,
the status quo need not fear any immediate popular repercussions.

Under this new law, Japanese people would unknowingly lose
the right to express themselves freely.

This loss would become manifest in a new government body called
the gProtecting Human Rights Associationh [sic], on whose authority
the freedom of expression would come to depend.
This body would actually be able to supercede the other
three pillars of government:

the executive, legislative and judiciary. In fact, this new body would even
be immune to the authority of the Ministry of Justice.

Composed of 20,000 Japanese and foreign volunteers, it would
serve to inform the authorities of any unfavorable expressions
made by public members on any forbidden subjects,
particularly discrimination towards Koreans.
Dissent voiced over any media, even the internet,
could result in the offender being immediately
arrested without so much as a court order.
Because this body could arrest offenders at will,
people would de facto become captives, subject to random
searches/interrogations and property could be seized at will.

Having worked so hard since hard since WWII to establish a free
and democratic nation, the Japanese people now find themselves
at risk of being imprisoned by this new arm of the government.
The shadow of tyranny and dictatorship seems to be
looming over Japan once again.

Because this bill is currently being passed under the radar of public
awareness it is sure to cause a scandal of outrage when the
ramifications finally come to light.

On 19 June 2005, there was a meeting in Hibiya Public Hall organized
by dissenting politicians opposed to the new bill, attempting to
muster public support.
Unfortunately, the Liberal Democratic Party cannot get enough seats
in the National Diet without the votes of the fringe Komei Party --
an extreme Buddhist cult.
Many Japanese people consider the Komei Party`s ranks to be
swelled with members from the glower stratah of society; notably
people lacking a formal education and Korean residents in Japan.
