No Longer Protecting Human Rights Law:

The Liberal Democratic Party has decided not to enact this law during
this opening period of the national Diet assembly.

This is to avoid conflict within the Liberal Democratic Party. Without
such conflict, it will be easier to privatize the post office, which has
a higher priority.

Koga, the driving force for the Human Rights Protection Association,
said, "It is not the right time to discuss this matter, because it might
give upset the vote on the privatization of the post office".

The leaders of Liberal Democratic Party said, "We won't bring this
matter up in this period of the National Diet Assembly. However in the
future we may do so."

The congressmen in the Liberal Democratic Party who oppose this law
have formed a group named "Assembly of considering of the real
Human Right Protection". Hiranuma is the chairman of this group. They
have been insisting on drastic changes to the law such as "the concept
of disturbing human rights is not clear", and "the power of the
committee of Human Rights is too strong".
